Alan was born in England and is also an Irish and US citizen. He’s currently working on obtaining his 4th different passport, at which point he will go off-grid and take up international espionage. He traveled the world for much of his adult life, living in Buenos Aires, Patagonia, Belo Horizonte and Busan. before eventually settling in Portland, Maine, which, after extensive research, he believes to be the best craft beer city in the world.
In his spare time, when not running his South American tourism business from afar, Alan enjoys soccer, improv, paddleboarding and dreaming of future travel plans. But he is at his happiest when walking or snuggling his two dogs; Max, a 3-legged South Korean dachshund mix, and Molly, a livewire Argentinian street dog.

Inheriting his love of well-made American beers from his father, Alex has carefully followed the explosion of Maine craft brewing since moving north from Washington DC a decade ago. When not solving problems on the brewery floor, you can find him playing music around Portland, fly fishing, or enjoying the best of what Maine outdoors has to offer.

Bennett was born up the coast in Maine and has been living in Portland for two years now. He is new to the brewing world, but has always appreciated local beer and the communities breweries provide. Most of Bennett’s free time is spent exploring Maine, close to home and far away. Bennett has grown up with a great appreciation for creativity, the outdoors, and craft. His summers are filled with hanging outside with friends and fishing, and once the snow falls most of his time is spent scooting around on snow with skis.

Brady began brewing professionally after stints as a writer, painter, music seller, house builder, tee shirt printer, shipping clerk, shelf stocker, invitation engraver and nighttime laborer. When he’s not busy brewing or drinking, he still enjoys writing and painting and is a long time advocate of analog music, funky cheese and long walks in the woods. Despite a world of forums to the contrary, he still says the world’s greatest beer is the one in his hand.

Carly’s love for entertaining and making people laugh perfectly fits the fun and comfortable brewery environment. From Portland, she has lived all over Maine, including in a tent on a blueberry farm for a year as well as in North Carolina. She is a single mama of two kids, and loves crafting, painting, and singing, as well as having an unabashed obsession with Harry Potter. Carly loves beer and the craft beer community and is looking forward to interacting with guests at Rising Tide Brewing Company this summer.

Originally from the south shore of Massachusetts, Carly found her home in Portland in 2018. Enthusiast of all things food and beverage, she loves chatting with visitors and locals behind the bar. When she’s not pouring beer, you’ll find Carly exploring Maine’s beauty, laughing with friends, cooking, writing (poorly), dabbling in the arts, or hanging out with her sour patch kid of a cat, Jimbo.

After bouncing around the East Coast, Dakota worked his way from the ground up in the beer industry while attending the University of South Florida’s Brewing Arts program. Seeking cooler weather, he came to Portland, Maine. Rising Tide was the first brewery he ever visited in New England, and he loved it so much he held his wedding reception here. When Dakota’s not concocting a new beer recipe, you can find him playing Dungeons and Dragons or visiting other New England breweries with his wife, Katrina and their pups Silas and Maeve.

Emily was born and raised in midcoast Maine, but moved to Connecticut with her family as a middle schooler. She attended college at the University of Vermont in Burlington, a town that helped develop her love for craft beer and the outdoors. Emily worked for almost a decade as an 8th grade English teacher at a boarding school in CT. However, her abiding love of Maine and a desire for a new adventure brought her to Portland in 2019, and she has been happily exploring breweries and the beauty of the state ever since. When she’s not pouring great beer, Emily volunteers at the Center for Wildlife in Cape Neddick, and enjoys spending time outdoors, doing yoga, baking, traveling, and taking pottery classes.

Haylee is a multi-generational, lifelong Mainer! While attending the University of Southern Maine in the Tourism & Hospitality program, she rediscovered an appreciation for the area she grew up in and has loved playing a role in sharing it with visitors and locals alike! When she’s not orchestrating good times, you’ll find Haylee and her husband busy with their young daughter, Maven, and two dogs, Hogan & Maya.

After earning a master’s degree in teaching and then a law degree, Heather never expected to be running a brewery. But she jumped on board with a level of excitement that has buoyed Rising Tide from its very inception. From financial projections and HR to supply chains, Heather pulls a laboring oar in nearly every aspect of the brewery operations. Heather served three terms in the Maine Legislature and is past-president of the Maine Brewers’ Guild. She currently coaches CrossFit part-time at a nearby gym and serves on the Maine Brewers’ Guild board of directors.
When she’s not making sure the bills get paid at the brewery, Heather likes to ski, camp, lift heavy barbells, and walk in the woods with her two crazy, constantly shedding shepherd mix dogs.

Originally from New Hampshire, Julia is an avid Printmaker (ask her about levigating stones and multi-block registration) and brought her passion of beer and art together by homebrewing and printing labels for her senior thesis. After acquiring a 600lb printing press she moved to Portland with dreams of working with beer and opening her own community print shop. She also enjoys punk shows, hiking, dogs, board games and sunny-side eggs on everything.

Rising Tide was founded in 2010 by Nathan Sanborn, a Portland native. Nathan spent more than a dozen years teaching himself about brewing, experimenting with creative recipes on his home-brewing system, and serving up his beers for feedback from friends and family before opening Rising Tide where he served as the sole employee for the first two years of operation. Nathan is fascinated by the science and the art of beer-making. He strives to create beers that are informed by traditional styles but with a creative, modern sensibility.
When he’s not managing brewery operations, Nathan likes to ski, sail, work with wood, play guitar, and cook for friends and family.

Navit moved to Maine from Maryland with her fiancé in 2022 to be closer to the ocean and family. They love Portland and are very excited to explore all Maine has to offer. She is one for enjoying the simpler things in life, such as long walks, time with loved ones, knitting, and cozy naps. She loves welcoming customers into Rising Tide and creating a fun and friendly experience.

After working for years in the growing New England craft beer industry; he immersed himself in the rapidly expanding San Diego craft beer scene. Following a move back to the East Coast he enjoys skiing, live music, and sharing Rising Tide all throughout New England.

Originally from the New Jersey suburbs of Philadelphia, Rob got into the beer industry twenty years ago while living in Chicago. He and his family are recent transplants to Portland. When they’re not out exploring Maine, you’ll find Rob spinning records, sipping bourbon and doing the prepwork for a home cooked meal.

While Sarah is not often at the brewery, she has been doing data entry since 2018. When not obsessing about numbers, she enjoys spending time with her kids and husband. She enjoys playing mini-golf, taking in a Sea Dogs game and watching old Rom-Coms. She is also her daughter’s Girl Scout troop leader, so be on the lookout a cookie booth in April!

Sev (Laurie Sevigny) works events for Rising Tide. She lives in Portland with her sister and seven cats. She has two wonderful daughters who have recently graduated from Colby and are out and about pursuing exciting adventures. After discovering good beer and receiving a homebrew kit for his birthday, Will knew he wanted to learn more about the brewing process and ultimately work in the industry. He moved to Portland and worked as a delivery driver to distribute beer across the state before joining Rising Tide. In his free time, you can find Will playing music, spending time with friends, and hanging out with his greyhound.
