PORTLAND (WGME) — A local brewery is making one of its seasonal beers year-round, and it’s benefitting a good cause even more in the process.
Rising Tide says its session IPA, “Maine Island Trail Ale,” known to fans as MITA, will now be available all year.
It’s usually only brewed in the summer months.
Rising Tide says a portion of the proceeds have gone to the Maine Island Trail Association for the last 10 years.
That group, also known as MITA, maintains Maine’s islands, cleaning up trash and debris that wash ashore.
Rising Tide says MITA gets about $1 from every case of MITA beer, which adds up to thousands of dollars.
That number is expected to skyrocket now that MITA is sold year-round.
