Sputnik [spətnik] (n)—each of a series of Soviet artificial satellites, the first of which (launched on October 4, 1957) was the first satellite to be placed in orbit.
When we’re happy with the results of a pilot batch we share them in our tasting room; and if customer feedback and brewery sensory assessment are really positive, the beer can earn a spot in our Sputnik Series! Sputnik is the nickname of our 7bbl fermentor, the smallest in our fleet. Each Sputnik beer will only be available for draft pours and growler fills in our tasting room, as well as at a limited number of establishments in the Portland area. These 7bbl batches don’t last long, though, so get some while they’re around!
