Winter Patio FAQs
We are open through Thanksgiving week, Closed Thanksgiving Day, with our current layout and walk-in seating only. We will briefly close to reset our patio from 11/30-12/2. We will reopen for winter service starting on Thursday, December 3 at 2 p.m.
We believe we have an inviting winter plan that follows and exceeds all of the state and federal CDC guidance about how to lower the risks of COVID-19, as well as drawing on everything we’ve been able to read about the additional benefits of being outside in a well-ventilated area. We recognize that not everyone is ready yet to venture out to dine and drink. That’s totally fine! (And we totally get it!) Our curbside pick-up option will continue and include food from Fire & Co. You can either pre-order online or drive/walk/bike-up to order on site.

We have a variety of seating options available. If you are joining us with other members of your household or "COVID Bubble" we recommend making a reservation for one of our East Patio heated bubble tents. If you are joining us with friends while practicing greater distance you can just come to the host stand at the entrance to our patio and see our host for a fire pit table on our West Patio. We can only seat parties of up to 8 people.
We won’t be able to allow folks to just stand around the barrels on our Tar Patio like we used to. Instead, we can only allow you in if there is a table available to seat you and then we ask you to remain at your table so we can safely serve you. If all of our tables are full, we’ll take your name and number to text you when your table is ready. We will have a remote waitlist available as well which you can add yourself to easily.
We are only taking advance reservations for our East Patio Bubble Tents. Our Fire Pits and towers are available for walk-in only. you can check our waitlist and add yourself remotely via the Resy app.

We ask that you do not come to our Tar Patio if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. These are the symptoms the CDC tells you to look for: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose (other than your own normal baseline allergies), nausea or vomiting, diarrhea. If you’re currently having or have recently had any of those symptoms or if you have had close contact with anyone who was COVID-positive within the last 14 days, please stay home and take care of yourself!
For right now, guests can come inside only to use the restrooms or briefly look at our merchandise.
When you come inside to use the restroom, you must wear a face covering. Our two restrooms will be limited to a single person using each one at a time in order to maintain distancing. Please sanitize your hands prior to entering the restroom and wash your hands well before exiting.
YES! EVERYONE NEEDS TO ARRIVE WEARING A FACE COVERING.
This is required by state regulations, and it’s a key part of how we will keep each other safe. Once you are seated at your table and enjoying your meal, you may take your mask off. If you get up from your table to use the restroom, close your tab, or for any other reason, you must put your mask back on. Just as we wouldn’t serve you if you arrived barefoot on our patio, we also won’t serve you if you refuse to wear a face covering. So just arrive with one and wear it until you’re drinking your beer and when you use the restroom and then we’ll be all set!
We also have some pretty sweet machine washable Rising Tide branded cloth masks that you can buy for $12!
* Please note that a cloth face covering, a three-ply disposable mask, or a full-coverage face shield are all acceptable, and you may see various members of our team wearing any of these various styles of face covering. Please leave the medical-grade N95s for our health care heroes!
Yup, we are continuing our partnering up with Fire & Co. to offer you elegant comfort food all winter long.
Their menu changes daily but will include hot pretzels with beer cheese, oysters on the half shell, a variety of hot sandwiches, and a selection of sweet treats. We ask that guests not bring in outside food.
Absolutely! As we did before COVID, we’ll be offering a small selection of hard cider, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages now including hot tea, coffee, and cocoa. We also have juice boxes available for kiddos. Tap water and sparkling water will be available upon request from your server.
Our servers are generally not going to wear gloves. Instead, our servers will be washing hands frequently and sanitizing their hands between every transaction.
The reason is simple: gloves don’t ensure clean hands because the virus could potentially stick to gloves if the gloves are not changed frequently. Instead, our servers will be washing hands frequently and sanitizing their hands between every transaction. We’ll have a LOT of hand sanitizer available everywhere on the Tar Patio. After reading all the guidance that is out there, we think this is actually a bit safer (and better for the environment) than changing gloves countless times during a long, busy shift.
Because we are serving only outside during a Maine winter, the weather may force us to close -- particularly in very strong winds, driving rain, or ice storms.
We will make sure to post this on our website and social media pages. But if there is just fluffy white stuff floating from the sky we will stay open and #embracewinter.
Keeping our team, our guests, and our community healthy is our number one priority. We are practicing rigorous physical distancing among our team within the brewery and have designed our new service model so that our team can keep their distance from one another as well as from customers.
You won’t see four tasting room ambassadors all hustling together behind the bar again for a while. We ask our employees to screen themselves for symptoms each day and encourage them to stay home if they aren’t feeling well. We offer paid sick leave, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and health insurance benefits to our team so that they don’t ever have to worry about calling out sick. We also have contingency plans for what we’ll do if a staff member experiences COVID symptoms, including immediately coordinating with the Maine CDC and offering universal testing to our team. We hope never to have to use those plans, but we promise to be transparent about it if it happens.
Nope, not for now. We’re going to ask that folks stay at their own tables and we won’t have games available for now so that we can ensure everyone’s able to keep proper distancing.
Yes! Both our bubble tents and our fire pits and towers are dog friendly. We encourage you to bring a dog bed or a blanket to keep your best friend warm and cozy.
Please help us remain dog friendly by bringing only well-behaved puppers, keeping your leashed floof at your own table with you, and not interacting with doggos at other tables. Please no woofin'. We don’t want puppers to be the reason for doing anyone a scare during these heckin strange times. We recommend bringing your own fluffy dog bed so your furry companion can stay warm and cozy at your side.
If you have any feedback or concerns about these new operational procedures, please don’t hesitate to email us via our contact page.
Things are constantly changing and we are always looking to improve. We may have gotten something wrong. We may have forgotten something. You might have a great suggestion that we could use to keep people safe and warm. Let us know! What we would ask most of all is that you stay patient with our staff. They have worked tirelessly this year to create our friendly laid-back space and are going to continue to hustle all through the cold winter months. There maybe some hiccups along the way. Your beers might take a while to arrive if we’re super busy or the patio may be full when you get here. We understand that might be frustrating. Please bear with us. We’ll continue to adjust as we get our feet under us. Your feedback is super important to us, but please direct that feedback to management via our contact page, rather than taking your frustrations out on our host or our servers.
